What happened

A brief look at how Newtons supported the community work described below.

A Hoddesdon family-run business will be featuring in a special episode of DIY SOS where the team transform the home of a police officer who was wounded in a terror attack.

Newtons Building Services, on Turnfield Road, answered the call from the BBC programme to lend a hand on the build in Barnet for PC Kris Aves, 35.

Kris was mowed down by a car on Westminster Bridge on March 22 last year during a terror attack which left five people dead.

He was returning from the London Police Commendation Ceremony where he had been honoured for his exceptional work as a police liaison officer in the Metropolitan Police.

We were proud to be asked to support the BBC build and to help deliver a safe, welcoming home for someone who has served others throughout a challenging period.
